8 Bathroom Upgrades
As many of you know, a correctly updated or designed master bathroom can make a home. On the other hand an outdated or poorly designed one can break the deal. This week we explore some recent bathroom trends to consider. Not only can these updates increase the value of your home, but can also make life nicer day-to-day. These will not all be for everyone but feel free to use the ones you like.
- Rain showerheads
If your idea of the perfect shower is inspired by an old Herbal Essences commercial, this should be your next project. Of course, you may need to change the rest of your shower configuration for it to make sense.
- Divided double vanity
You can add some valuable storage between the sinks by adding some built-ins from the floor to the top of the mirror. If double vanities are good, divided double vanities are great. Throw in some in-drawer power outlets and everything has its place, keeping the counter top clutter and cord spaghetti monsters at bay.
- Hide-a-potty
Using a half wall or a water closet, you can keep your commode out of immediate view. You can even strategically place the vanity to obscure the view. It is tough to create a peaceful serene environment when the toilet is right out in the open. It is possible that you might not be able to do much about it based on the configuration of the bathroom.
- Vintage furniture turned sink cabinet
You can either actually repurpose an old piece or buy new cabinets inspired by the idea. You can get old dressers relatively cheap on internet trade sites or at the local flea market and add a nice counter top fairly inexpensively.
- Add some subtle color
Neutral color palates create warm, relaxing and inviting spaces. With slight hints of color either on backsplash, tile surrounds or wall paper you can add a great touch without over powering the room and ruining the relaxing environment. Pastels are your friend here, go bold with textures and patterns rather than color.
- Bowl or vessel sink basins
Again, you can repurpose something old with the help of an online tutorial or plans. This is a quick and easy way to add a great new focal point in the bathroom. Don’t be afraid to use some unconventional materials. Just make sure it is water proof whatever it is.
- Luxurious lighting
Sometimes you just need to treatchoself. Adding a chandelier above your soaker tub can add an ambiance that is hard to beat. With the addition of a dimmer switch you can have your very own 5-star experience every day. You could go simpler with some sconces around the room.
- Lo-flow commode
You can save some money on water bills and update the size and look of the old throne at the same time. Modern water conscious toilets can achieve the same oomf with less water. Using less water is always a good thing, why not update the look of your toilet at the same time.
We don’t often engage in this much potty talk at the Stahl & Stahl Group, we hope you found something on this list that inspires you. Bathroom updates can earn as much as 120% of their price in resale value, as long as the changes are timeless and properly done. Let us know what your favorite suggestion is.
