Selling During the Holidays
Waiting until after the holidays to sell your home may not be the best idea and here’s why:
There are many different opinions on listing a home for sale during the holidays. Some say that the reduced number of people looking will not be worth the time. While it is true that there are less people looking for homes during the holidays than at other times, there are less homes for sale too. You only need one buyer to see your home and fall in love with it. Buyers are still looking this time of year. We even showed a valued client a home last Christmas Eve!
- Interest rates are still expected to increase. Buyers want to lock in rates as low as possible.
Based on The Federal Reserves current feelings on the state of the economy, we can expect rate increases to continue into next year.
- Available inventory is very low in most price ranges.
Active available inventory in Jacksonville is still relatively low. As a seller, this may put you in a unique position to get the most for your home in this market. Many sellers choose not to put their home on the market between now and the new year, as a result there is less competition. A side effect is generally a large amount of homes coming onto the market at the beginning of the year.
- Timing is everything. A house for sale has at least some chance of selling, while a house in
waiting does not.
Many times when the home is priced right, in good condition and is easy to show, we see our sellers get multiple offers.
- There are buyers who have no choice but to find a place this time of year.
Families are on the move! Due to more relaxed work/school commitments during the Holidays, or leases ending in the new year, some families are looking to buy homes. What better gift can you think of than a new home?
