What’s Happening at the St. Johns Town Center
Pardon the dust!
The St. Johns Town Center is exploding, in a good way. If you have taken a journey to the Town Center recently you have seen the massive expanse that is being cleared and built up. If you are pulling out of the existing Town Center, maybe just leaving the Cheesecake Factory, what you’ll see across the street looks like construction equipment being birthed from the ground.
Just when you thought they had everything, more is on the way. Here are some major projects that have recently been completed or soon will be:
“The Strand”: This one is nearly complete, a huge project of more than 500,000 square feet. It includes apartments and restaurants including Cheddar’s and Firebird’s. There will also be a Hobby Lobby. It begins at the corner of Gate Parkway and Town Center Blvd, across the street from the more established Town Center area.
“The Crossing”: The same developer, basically Books-a-Million is building another project across Gate Parkway from “The Strand”. If you noticed the PDQ that was seemingly built over night that’s the spot. There will also be a Wawa. By the time you read this, it might already be open.
“Town Center Promenade”: Just on the other side of “The Strand”, also across Town Center Blvd. It will include apartments and a hotel, but it is really all about the food. Proposed restaurants are Red Robin, Texas de Brazil, Piada Italian Street Food, another Starbucks and an already open Newk’s.
“Mill Dam Branch”: Over the next 8 or so years, a small community is going to be built in the corner of I-295 and J Turner Butler Blvd. With emphasis being put on walkability, it will include everything from homes and offices to restaurants and a lot of green space. Mill Dam Branch will be a total of 105 acres, built around a large lake at the center.
Lastly, I don’t know if you have heard but, Jacksonville is also getting an IKEA. The much anticipated opening is scheduled to be in the fall. It is going to be located at Gate Parkway and I-295. That should do wonders for the traffic. If you need more space for all of that Swedish furniture with impossible names let us know, we can help you find the perfect place.
